Early July 2019 bopping fortnight’s favorites Jul 1, 2019 | Fortnight's favorites | 1 comment 1 Comment Ken Hippler on 2019/07/01 at 09:47 While I never met him, I have had some correspondence with Buster Doss. He and his wife Barbara operated Stardust Records. I do a volunteer country music radio show on KFAI-Minneapolis called “Good ‘N Country” 3-5PM central time Saturdays. Buster and Barbara were very generous to me, as they always sent me compilation CDs of the traditional country artists they were trying to get heard on radio. One interesting fact about Stardust records is they were the first label to sign bluegrass queen Rhonda Vincent. Prior to that, Buster formed Wizard Records in 1959 and it was the first major independent label on music row. After Mr. Doss died in 2006, Barbara did her level best to keep Stardust records going, but the label folded about two years later. I will always have a special place in my heart for Buster and Barbara Doss. God Bless them both and thank you so much for posting some great early material by Buster.
